Do you read with your kid(s) before bed? If your child is learning how to read, do you insist that he or she reads to you?
When my daughter was little I used to read to her every night. Now, she reads to herself!
No I do not read to them before bed time, however I encourage them to read while learning.
My wife and I read to our youngest son all day long and then our two youngest get a bedtime story. Sometimes our 8 year old wants to be the one to read to our 2 year old. It really is quite sweet!
Yes, my youngest and I read before bed, he typically reads to me.
Yes, I read for them, and now my 9 year old girl likes to read for her little sister and brother.
As part of my child’s homework, she has to read for 20 minutes every school day.
I have them read for the practice
we take turns reading at bedtime
I do and i usually read to them but they read before I come into the room for 10 minutes.
Yes reading time is bonding time between parents and kids
Before bed, no. In the other time – yes. I read always in my language (or I translate fast), her father read in our language or french. For my son I’ll make the same thing, read in other time, no before bed.
My child is 13, however when she was younger…every night i would read to her and then pretty soon she was reading herself. Was very young when she opted to get a chapter book (without pictures) I was surprised but pleased. Now she is an avid reader…although during the week she has so much homework that it doesn’t leave time for much reading before bed! I think reading to kids young is soooo important and sets them up for life.
we read to them and they read to us. My son is in 1st grade so reading is more of a challenge for him but it is good for him.
Reading is a big part of our family life we all participate in reading and it is usually before bed. Its a good way to wind down and relax the child. As for my son reading he is actually starting to and i am very pleased as he is only 4. The very first book he read to me almost entirely unassisted was “The Mole Sisters” such nice books and very simple wording for young readers.
