When my first child was born, I had time to take him to tons of studio portrait sessions. We did a 2 week old session, a 1 month old, 6 month old, 9 month old, 1 year old…it was madness.
When my second child was born, I had a friend take a family picture of us with her “good camera”.
When my kids were 2 and 5, we had a big extended family portrait with the grandparents and my brother’s family.
But…now my kids are 4 and 7, and I have never had a REAL family picture of our complete immediate family.
Over the Christmas and New Year holidays, we were in Laos. I decided to remedy the Lack of Family Portrait Problem with a Lao glamor shot session.
For such a session, you go to the photo studio and use their Lao traditional clothes and props. They even did my make up for me. Also if you wish, for women, they have a nice cone of fake hair they can put on top of your head, like you have a glorious bun.
The boys were most excited about holding swords. Here we see Deeds being envious of Jojo’s sword.
In the end, they each had a sword, but it was pretty hard to focus on the camera and not the awesome sword!
I can’t wait to see the final product!
Checking off the list: 2012 Family Portrait.
